"Veiled Daughters"
Here’s my humble contribution to the Moleskine show coming up at SPOKE Art. I am so honored to be a part of this show alongside so many artist i respect and admire. All the work for this it looks absolutely stunning and there is a lot.
Mr. Rodrigo Luff himself recently shard his thoughts on the show and I’ll be re-posting it here in the days to come. I can’t tank him enough for including me. It would be a shame for anyone to miss this so please come join us!

my humble offering for the Rooster Show. Opening bid is $200, just enough to cover framing. Head on down to the Safehouse and bid on some super cheap art, from an incredible line up, YO! For a good cause.
When I began my first travel themed journal I filled it with the souvenirs I'd brought from my trips. Because back then I would never draw in front of people, and so I could draw the souvenirs from the privacy of my own home. In fact, when I made my second little zine I wrote inside "I am a reluctant public sketcher. Actually, that is a big fat understatement. The thought of drawing in public fills me with horror". That was about three years ago.
And, here I am today. drawing on planes, and in airports, cafes, parks and streets. I made the sketches, above, on the way back from France. I was sat with a really nice French guy who watched me draw through the whole flight. He commented on my sketches and even suggested the passengers who I should draw. The guy who is asleep in the middle of the page was looking over my shoulder at what I was doing (when he'd woken up, obviously!) and the flight attendant came over to take a look. I didn't mind. At all.

If you’re interested in the Moleskine Project II, I wrote up this to explain my ideas and thoughts behind it.
Opening Dec 6th, 2012 at Spoke Art Gallery, San Francisco, the Moleskine Project #2 is a group exhibition that features a spread page taken from the sketchbooks of more than 50 artists from around the world. It brings together a broader network of sketchbooks from renowned illustrators, concept artists, oil painters and more.
Many of the artists know each other through online communities formed over the past ten years, where sketchbooks were shared regularly in order to learn, grow and become inspired by one another. Motivated to dive deeper into our own sketchbooks, each page charted our own artistic journeys. Within the unified format of this collective sketchbook, a visual dialogue is exchanged from artist to artist, page to page, forming a colourful language of imagery, technique and ideas.
These pages often have an intimacy that strips bare the usual restrictions of polished work, drawing us even closer to the raw, personal realms of each artist. This show is a tribute to the power of sketchbooks to influence and inform others as well as ourselves, and offers fresh insight into a passionate and dedicated group of artists.
The Moleskine Project II opens Thursday, December 6th at Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco. Co-curator Rod Luff and many of the artists from the exhibit will be in attendance.
